Video: OUTBREAK IN ZAMBIA
A simulation exercise to demonstrate an outbreak of HPAI and to test the Rapid Response Team’s reaction, took place on 28 – 29 September in Chisamba, Central Province, Zambia.
A Senior FAO consultant had been recruited to give technical input into the final preparations. An initiative of STOP-AI to run a desk-top simulation in the same location early September, was highly welcomed and perfectly integrated into the preparations of the exercise.
Seven neighboring countries, namely Angola, Botswana, DRC, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zimbabwe, participated as observers, their participation was funded by AU-IBAR under the SPINAP project.
The exercise was a full success, carried out by a dedicated RRT, demonstrating very good coordination between the Departments of Animal Health, Human Health and the Police forces of this district. The event triggered similar national outbreak simulation exercises in other countries such as Mauritius and Malawi.
You can watch below, the movie of the simulation.
